METI Government of Japan Internship Program: Expanding Horizons through Global Experiences

The METI Government of Japan Internship Program offers three-course options: 

( A/A2 Course +C Course )
Small and Medium-sized companies with main business locations in Japan.
(excluding industry associations, non-profit organizations, and local governments).

( B/B2 Course )
The internship will be conducted at the intern’s home workspace under the direction and management of the host company’s activities.

*The host companies will be determined through matching by the program(JIP) office and approval by the screening committee.

The duration of the internship is two months.

The application deadline is June 30, 2023.

Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:

  1. Agree with the purpose of the project and be willing to cooperate in promoting the globalization of Japanese companies, expanding overseas business, and building networks with overseas universities through internships.
  2. Hold citizenship of the eligible countries or regions.
  3. Have proficiency in either the Japanese language (JLPT level N3 or higher) or English.
  4. Generally be between 18 and 40 years old as of August 1, 2023.
  5. Students must be able to provide a certificate of enrollment from their university or institution and a letter of recommendation from their university faculty or similar authority.
  6. Graduates must be able to provide a certificate of graduation from their previous university and a letter of recommendation from their university faculty or institution.
  7. Able to submit certificates of various qualifications such as IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL, CEFR, JLPT, or similar.
  8. Willing and able to dedicate themselves exclusively to the training and internship at the company, following the program office’s (JIP office) specified timetable.
  9. Meet any additional specific conditions required by each company.
  10. Not have participated in this program between fiscal years 2016 and 2022.
